The Low Maintenance Garden
This year has been an interesting year for Chrysalis with new challenges ahead, one of them being design a low maintenance garden for the high end of the rental market.
So the challenge was to turn an area that had never been used as a garden to a low maintenance paved area, incorporating raised planting beds, large tubs for the trees and wire a watering system into these areas ensuring the garden is well looked after with very little inconvenience for the tenant. Also we had to apply for permission to remove the large trees near the back door as the roots were causing problems with the brickwork and making the garden shady.
Before the MakeoverWhilst designing the garden I wanted to make sure there was adequate storage for the garden furniture cushions, parasol and basic garden equipment so we bought a basic shed and stained it.
Once the garden was designed we planned a trip to a ‘mature’ garden centre choosing the plants and trees for the garden, I also wanted to bring in lighting so it created a soft lighting against the trees. On completion of the project we ensured the garden was cleared of all rubbish including cleaning all the paving and the result was very appealing
